Studio

A small studio that listens first.

Kayantaran was founded in 2020 by Shilpi Jha. We are based in Gurugram and work across India, from homes in Delhi NCR to a sixty-seat office at IIT Powai, Mumbai.

The name

Kayantaran means metamorphosis. Kaya, form. Antaran, change. Every space is waiting to become what it should have been. Your Green Nest is the other half of the idea: a home should shelter you, and something in it should be growing.

That is why plants, daylight, and natural materials are in our plans from the first sketch. Not because green is fashionable, but because rooms with living things in them are easier to live in.

Founder

Shilpi Jha

Principal and Founder

Shilpi leads the studio’s design direction, its client relationships, and every creative decision.

Her background is in architecture and interior design, and her interest is in homes that work as well as they look, with nature built into the plan rather than added at the end. She is on every project, from the first sketch to handover.

How we think

  • Nature-rooted

    Plants, daylight, and natural materials are part of the plan from the first sketch, not styling added at the end. We work out where the light falls before we decide where anything grows.

  • Considered craft

    We would rather make one decision carefully than three quickly. Every joint, finish, and fitting has a reason. If we cannot say why something is there, it does not go in.

  • Warmth

    We design rooms to be lived in. You should feel at home, not on display. The test is an ordinary weekday evening, not a photograph.

  • Honest expertise

    We tell you what will work, what will not, and what it will cost before you commit to it. That conversation is easier on paper than halfway through a build.
